The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development fully welcomes the statement issued by the UN Special Rapporteurs, Independent Experts, and Working Groups calling on all states to follow the example of 146 UN member states by recognizing the state of Palestine and using all their political and diplomatic resources available to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

On Saturday, 3 June 2024, a group of “United Nations Experts” issued a statement through which they indicated that all countries must follow the example of (146) member states of the United Nations, recognize the state of “Palestine” and use all their political and diplomatic resources available to reach an immediate ceasefire in “Gaza.”
The Experts emphasized, “This step is an important recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people and their struggle and suffering for freedom and independence”, and “Palestine” must be able to enjoy full self-determination, including the ability to exist, determine its destiny, and develop freely as a people in safety and security”. The insisted, “This is a prerequisite for lasting peace in Palestine and the entire Middle East”.
The experts welcomed the recent recognition of the “Palestinian” territory occupied as a state by Norway, Ireland, and Spain, which comes after the General Assembly voted overwhelmingly – 143 votes to nine – to support Palestine’s bid to become a full member of the United Nations on 10 May 2024
The experts also stressed that the two-state solution remains the only internationally agreed path to peace and security for both Palestine and Israel and a way out of the cycles of violence and resentment that have been going on for generations.

In this regard, the Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development appreciates the statement’s contents issued by the Special Rapporteurs, Independent Experts, and Working Groups and stands in solidarity with their demands.

The Egyptian Coalition stresses the right of the “Palestinian” people to self-determination under the rules and principles of international law, calling for activating this legal principle like other countries that have benefited from the principles of international law in self-determination and independence.
