 The Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights condemned the kidnapping of French journalist Olivier Dubois by the terrorist group Support for Islam and Muslims, militants in the northern Malian city of Gao, who are affiliated with al-Qaeda”.

The Alliance confirmed the kidnapping of Olivier Dubois in Mali on April 8, 2021, via a 21-second video posted by the terrorist group, showing Dubois appealing to the French authorities to free him. .

The Alliance confirms that the French journalist Olivier Dubois, 46, has been working as a journalist in Mali since 2015, for the magazine “Le Bouan Afrique” and the newspaper Libération, and the Egyptian Alliance for Human Rights and Development expresses its deep sorrow over the terrorist violations against journalists, and pointed out that this act constitutes a blatant attack on freedom of expression, a freedom essential to all democratic societies and must be respected at all times and in all circumstances.

The Egyptian Alliance calls on all international organizations, actors and UN member states to release Olivier Dubois and calls upon the authorities to launch an investigation in order to bring those responsible to justice as soon as possible.
