The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development and Eshraket Amal Association in Beheira, headed by MP Amal Zakaria, held an open panel discussion on Thursday, 23 February, in Damanhour, to raise awareness of economic and social human rights in light of the National Strategy for Human Rights launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who in turn stressed his belief in the importance of the human rights file and its role in the development of society at all levels. The discussion praised the National Strategy for Human Rights, as a document that the state obliges itself to ensure economic and social rights for its citizens. There has also been plans for cooperation between the participating associations in Beheira Governorate to spread awareness of the values and principles of human rights, through the framework of a number of meetings initiated by the ECHRD in the governorates. The associations pledged to follow up the implementation of the strategy and participate with the state and its institutions in all activities that ensure that the strategy achieves its objectives.
